Season 2008/2009

Saturday 30th of August. First game vs Camolin.

Our first game was away to Camolin. We got of to a great start with Daithi Redmond winning the ball passing the “Hob” who crossed for T.J Parle to score the first goal in the clubs history. We went 2-1 down when Stephen Redmond scored a penalty to make 2-2. Camolin won 3-2 with a deflection in the last minute. Spirits were not dampened as we had performed well considering we had a lot of players playing for there first league game.

 

 

 

Our first cup game vs Courtown Hibs B. First Hatrick!!!!!!

Courtown who were 3 divisions above us were not able for a great performance from Ballymurn Celtic that day. Ballymurn won 5-0 with Eoghan “Snowy” Kehoe scoring the first hatrick , Paul Walsh and Brian O Connor. It was a great first season even though it was to end disappointment.

At the end of the season Michael Cummins “Burger” was voted the players player of the year. “Burger” had a great debut season for Ballymurn Celtic at center half  showing great heart in every performance.

WANTED!!!!!!!!           Trophy Missing!!!!!!!!

Stephen Redmond was top goal scorer the first season with an impressive haul of 16 from center midfield. Unfortunately “Reds” trophy went missing in the grove a cross from The Anvil. Rumour has it that Mary Maher was seen polishing the trophy on her mantle piece or the Baby broke his neck when he tripped over it going home!!!!!!.
